Govt reviewing Russia sanctions law

A review of New Zealand’s sanctions regime against Russia is underway, with Kiwis to be canvassed on the effectiveness of the measures as the Government weighs its next steps.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, Parliament unanimously backed new legislation allowing New Zealand to unilaterally take action against those connected to the Russian regime, stopping them from moving assets into the country or using those already here.
